Our Mission
At The Center for Nonprofit Excellence, we are dedicated to helping nonprofits do what they do, better. Through education, personalized support, and championing the work of local nonprofits, we collaborate with members throughout Alachua County to build capacity, strengthen effectiveness, and help every mission thrive. We strive to create economic impact, supporting organizations that build our community in the arts, conservation, education, social services, community justice, and animal welfare. #nonprofitsgetitdone
Economic Impact
Nonprofit businesses are a vital economic engine throughout North Central Florida. There are over 300 active operating in Alachua County providing mission driven services. They engage over 4000 employees who live in, spend in and support our community. A snapshot of 20 organizations from schools to arts to safety services receive over $152,743,974 in current grant funding that has direct economic impact in our community. This funding pays salaries, supports local vendors, and contributes to the economic engine of our county. These grants, which are matched with tens of millions in local support annually, represent investments in housing, trauma intervention, conservation, education, arts and culture, and legal representation.
Collectively, more than 55,000 volunteers supported these causes with their time and talent. Additional small business loans, research projects, and infrastructure projects are also supported by out of area funds that go directly into our local economy and provide vital investment making our community work. These programs represent much of what makes Gainesville safe, attractive and a standout for business partners.
