Stuck in the Middle with You: Managing from the Middle

Congratulations!  Senior leadership has acknowledged your work, and you have been promoted to middle management. But no one told you that this is the most difficult position of all! In ‘Stuck in the Middle with You: Managing from the Middle’, Dr. Heidi Keegan will provide insight on how to learn your job while leading others in theirs. As the liaison between frontline employees and the CEO or Board, you are responsible for absorbing ideas and concerns from both ends, while trying to create a safe and productive work environment that gets results. Senior leaders set vision and policy, but the managers are tasked with carrying it out and making it palatable. Middle managers are often hired with little to no training in their elevated job role. In this session, you will learn strategic approaches that you can apply immediately to your context. Come learn about priority scheduling, critical conversations, evaluation etiquette, and communicating with clarity. We’ll have some practice with realistic and fun scenarios that will have you thinking, and acting, like a boss. Target audience: Supervisors, program managers,  directors in mid level positions .  This is an interactive 2 hour workshop.
